by NGL Personnel

ATLANTA, GA--  The National Gridiron League (NGL) held an industry-first players symposium and tryout this past weekend in Brunswick, Georgia. Players from all over the country came to the south Georgia event to display their talents to league talent evaluators and learn in-depth information on the NGL.

The three-day event, initiated with NGL president Joe McClendon welcoming players and leading a three-hour league introduction conference. Throughout the conference, many topics were covered, including players housing, players medical coverage, players salary, and the long-term vision of the league. The morning event concluded with a question and answered session for the players.

Friday evening all players participated in a football combine putting their talents on display as they competed in football skill-testing events such as the forty-yard dash, short shuttle, and board jump. After completing the skill-testing activities, players were divided into teams and were led through team walk-thru sessions as coaches provided players in-depth knowledge on league rules and team plays.

Saturday and Sunday players competed in football position-specific drills, one on one competition, passing skills, and team drills. With two practices taking place on Saturday and a final practice taking place on Sunday.

Over the course of the event, six players earned an NGL team contracts including former Arkansas-Pine Bluff tailback Brian Handley. The Mississippi Mudcats and Virginia Destroyers each signing two players followed by the Indiana Blue Bombers and Atlanta Wildcats adding one each.

Several returning players from NGL team's 2019 rosters also attended the event. Virginia Iron Horses tailback Donald "Night Night" Hall displayed exceptional skills at the tailback position as he began his campaign as a potential All-League talent.

Player feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive as the players enjoyed the weekend of activities, food, and off-field events of coastal Georgia.

The league has scheduled four additional players symposiums and tryouts for this offseason which are set for Tampa, Dallas, Charlotte, and southern California.
